Top 6 Trends for High-End Renovation Homes & New Construction

Builders are constantly trying to keep up with new market trends and designs.  Here are some top ideas to keep in mind if you are building a new home or renovating your current one:

6: Kitchen Backsplashes

Kitchen Backsplashes have been a big thing for a while.  Now, more than ever, they’ve been getting a new focus and taking it a step up with higher-end tiles that have unique shapes and patterns.  The low-grade plug and play backsplash is gone!  Trend: more natural feel to the backsplash by tucking lighting under the cabinets above.  And they aren’t stopping at the lighting, now the outlets are being tucked under there too so the look and feel to the kitchen is very natural uninterrupted feel without losing the functionality!

5: A More Natural Look and Feel

Another Kitchen design item is here to stay and again, the trend is a more natural look and feel.  Although we still use our microwaves we don’t need them to be a focus point in our kitchens.  Here commeth the Microwave Drawer.  Problem Solved!

4: The New Rough In Goes to the Garage

Everyone’s heard of a builder who builds a home with an unfinished basement and “roughs in” the plumbing for the future contractor.  The new rough in goes to the garage.  Yep, it’s an electric car 220 volt line for all the electric car owners or soon to be owners.  Even if you never intend to let go of your 1963 Corvette Stingray Split Window Coupe, it’s a neat selling point for future buyers.

3: Outdoor Entertainment Areas

Outdoor living at it’s best.  Most of us are entertaining outside now more than ever.  The back yard is no longer in the back seat.  This isn’t just add a weber grill and we’re good.   Everything from entertaining areas, to pools, landscaping, fire pits and play areas are planned and shown off in today’s market.  Tip?  If there is no built-in grill area, ask the builder if they added a gas line for the new grill you plan to buy.  The days of refilling your tank in the middle of the 4th of July party are over!

2. Grain Corners

.  When your builder wraps the grain of the wood around the corner they won’t be the only ones showing it off!

1. Main Street Towns

Strip Malls and Parking Lots vs Main Street Towns – Location is still important as ever and location near Main Streets are a winning formula for Builders.  Slowly but surely the large clunky malls and endless parking lots are losing favor to Main Street with local craft businesses, large sidewalks and proper barriers separating bikes from cars.  Areas for weekend farmer’s markets.  Sip your coffee or espresso and enjoy the people watching with a friend.  Toward the end of the town center main street, a park and baseball field.  I’ve even seen one with a mini amphitheater for Friday night local bands.

Happy house hunting for those who are looking.  And if you’re like me: research your local builders, find the best and step into a nearby open house to enjoy the craftsmanship.  After all, it’s free!
